Crocheting a hemp purse?
I was just wondering if anyone has crocheted a purse out of hemp and how it turned out?
I'm very into making necklaces, bracelets, anklets and key chains out of hemp but I'm ready to make other creations. I also have experience with crocheting. I figured it would be a little bit harder to crochet with hemp instead of yarn because hemp is a lot more stiff than yarn.
And also, if you could show me any links to good crochet patterns for a purse that crosses over your shoulder and onto your hip that would be great. =].

Hemp can be stiff, but not always. If you are using that hemp that they use for necklaces, it is usually waste hemp. The good stuff is used elsewhere.
Any yarn can be stiff if you use too small a hook. With hemp, because it is stronger and doesn't have any elasticity, you need to use a much larger hook to get flexibility in your fabric. But for a purse, you may want a more dense fabric, so a smaller hook is advisable. Do a small square about 10 cm wide, to see what you like. Try several different hook sizes until you get the fabric you want. I have seem some crochet which was very dense and tight that the piece was able to stand up by itself. Perhaps you don't' want that.
To crochet a purse is not an harder than anything else. It is larger, so will take a bit longer, but you get something much nicer and useful than a necklace. Matter of perspective. Use a simple stitch for ease with your first one. You can vary the type of stitches on your next ones, and vary the sizes. With a more open stitch, I would suggest making a lining as well.
