Whats the best base color to choose if you want your hair to be black?
I want to dye my hair a dark jet black, but all the hair dye labels say they either have a blue or a violet base. Will that make my hair have a blue/purple tint? I just want it to be normal pitch black with no tint, whats best? p.s- I have dark brown hair with fading black dye in it right now if that helps. Thanx
well it really depends on what type of color you are using. Are you just going to the drug store and buying it or going to a beauty supply store? The darkest black you can buy is a 1N. It is a neutral which means there will be no undertone to it and won't shine a bluish tint in the sunlight or anything. However, sometimes the natural undertone in your hair can cause it to look slightly different.

the way i said sounded as if i hated all black men?
i dont hate all black men. i dont hate anyone i just dislike their attitude like a lot of you said in my earlier question. i can proudly say i do love my colour but the way other people portray us to be is just degrading to a lot of black males and overall to the black communities all over the world. i do like white people more than my race. a lot of black people do not like white people because of their past history with us but we cannot judge all white people based one that. i am engaged to a white man and i love him dearly. and yes i am 17. we love each other and i do believe it wil work and my family accepts him and his accepts me. but i cannot get over not finding interest at all in my background and the black people i'm around. i am more interested in the white history. is this a bad thing. i asked a question like this one before. but i didnt realy explained myself. hope this question did.
There is nothing wrong with being interested in 'white history,' but it would be wise to try to develop an appreciation for 'black history' as well. There have been a lot of significant contributions to America by people of color.
It makes more sense now that you are saying that you dislike their attitudes. If you came to the states just two years ago, I'm guessing that it is a culture clash that you are experiencing. (A friend of mine that came here from Jamaica a few years back had the same experience.)
At 17, most people have little interest in history of any kind. As you grow older, you may find that you WANT to learn more about black history or genealogy.
My concern here is that you may have some self-loathing attitudes. This is a BIG problem.
