miki moto pearls how much is it worth?
My grandmother passed down miki moto pearls to me.. she told me she got them in japan years ago and are one of the first sets ever created. it came in a japanese box, with earrings, a ring, and a pearl necklace. anyone know how i can get this appraised? should i have it cleaned?
Have them appraised by a professional and don't clean them. They could be quite valuable and the wrong cleaning method could ruin them. If they are from modern times, meaning from 1920's onward they are cultured pearls. If they are older, 1920's and before then they could be natural pearls. Natural pearls are worth more than cultured, but regardless, mikimotos are the gold standard of pearl jewelry. You are going to have to do some real searching and researching beyond asking someone else for help. You could possibly have something quite valuable. Do not sell them to the first person who offers 500$, they could be worth far more than that. If you are a teen then ask your parents for some help as you research your pearls.
The mikimoto company will do appraisals in store. You can ship to the store for an appraisal.

After understanding their value and worth then have them professionally cleaned. Poor cleaning can ruin cultured pearls and if these are valuable you will want to take care of them so they last a long, long time. You might have inherited a real treasure.
