Was fable one of the most revoluntinary and important games of all time?
Ok so we know the whole good and evil and big descion makeing when no other game ever did it before (the closest being knights of the old republic wich was still far off) and its now a MUST ex.mass effect,bioshock,gta iv,dragon age origins,fallout 3,jade empire,and many more.So was it important in your opinion?In my opinion its one of the greatest games of all time though it was short :p
I think Fable (the original) was an important RPG, but I would not call it revolutionary: BioWare made the concept first, and did it better. Fable and KotOR were the only two games I played on the original Xbox. If you look at your list, you will find that they are mostly BioWare games.
Knights of the Old Republic (BioWare/EA) published in 2003. Fable (Lionhead/Microsoft) came out in 2004.
If you want to go back further, BioWare made an earlier game, Baldur's Gate, based on an oldschool RPG (Advanced Dungeons and Dragons), which was very involved in the sense of party interaction and alignment (good or evil) and how they interact with one another and the game world. Baldur's Gate was a revolutionary title in computer based role playing games.
What Fable did, which no one had done quite so well before was give the hero the ability to buy a house, get married and so on. It's a shame i didn't like Fable 2 as well, and just didn't bother with Fable 3. Maybe when it's on the discount rack
