What kind of bug could this be?
This morning I found several of these little green bugs, they look like a walking stick and could very well be but when I approached one in my yard yesterday it actually came at me and began to fly toward my head. This put me on guard because I didn't think that walking sticks were at all aggressive. Basically the insect has six legs, three on each side of it's body. It's the color of a Katydid so it's a real light almost neon green. It has two antenna on it's head, and a fairly elongated body, it has no neck rather a long body and they creep around real slow. The ones I found today were on a plant outside that is a trumpet vine. I have been unable to locate this insect online but am hoping that someone will be able to identify these little guys without pictures. Thank you! Oh a couple more key points, he has a green body but one yellow stripe going from where his neckline would be to his rear. And he has one little tiny spot on his head of brown and two tiny red eyes.
Most walking sticks don't have wings and those that do can't fly well. If the front two legs are raptorial (made for seizing prey), it's a praying mantis. If they aren't, I don't know what it is. In any case, you just happened to be standing in the insect's flight path. It probably mistook you for a plant.
