What are good starter fish for a saltwater tank?
I have an aquarium saltwater reef 55 gallon with live rock, live sand, and anemones What are some good starter fish for my saltwater tank, and what are some good fish that can go hand in hand. For example, water freshwater fish community has as mollies and neons, and semi aggressive fish like angels and the silver dollars, then aggressive fish like Oscars. So I guess wat im asking is what the fish belong to which group so you can decide which group of id like to have in my tank.
PJ Cardinals fish are very nice start. They are not as aggressive as many of the girls. chromis reef are also very nice. Be careful in many maidens as domino damsels. They are cute and little in the store, but turn in 6-inch monsters. Even small damsels, such as Yellow Tail, has some problems of attitude and aggressiveness. Dottyback Many are also hardy and inexpensive, making them great beginner fish, but they can have attitudes;) Salt-water clusters similar to those of freshwater as reference. There are community and schools of fish, semi-aggressive and aggressive. And as in freshwater fish which have no safe plant and safe vegetables in salt water are not compatible with reef fish and reef fish that are not compatible. Looking at the profiles of the fish, aggression, size, and compatibility reefs are generally on the list. If the types of fish for navigation, check out some great books: PocketExpert http://www.amazon.com/PocketExpert-Guide-Marine-Fishes-Essential/dp/1890087386 Fish Guide My old shop used to have a local fish on the counter for people to look through or borrow! Your library may have a copy, or new order. There are also species specific books and more detailed books like angelfish and butterfly Reef http://www.amazon.com/Angelfishes-Butterflyfishes-Scott-W-Michael/dp/1890087696/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1304444710&sr = 1-1-spell Http://www.amazon.com/Reef-Fishes-Scott-W-Michael/dp/1890087211/ref=sr_1_10?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1304444732&sr=1-10 fish I have three reference books and greatly enjoy them. In fact, I bought the first two times, because my original copy was so over-used and lent out went down!
